Event Description
The Renaissance Society of America and Fordham University present the online symposium Plagues, Pandemics, and Outbreaks of Disease in History. The event aims to develop and review specific ways to incorporate the historical understanding of disease outbreak into the teaching curriculum at colleges and secondary schools. This symposium is co-sponsored by Fordham University’s Center for Medieval Studies, and the Departments of Art History and Music, Classics, and History.

Colin Rose (Brock University): Chaos and Order in Times of Plague
Lisa Sousa (Occidental College): Epidemic Disease and Indigenous Survival in Sixteenth-Century Mexico
1:30–4:00 – Developing Pedagogy: Roundtable and Discussion
